Driving is potentially hazardous, you should be aware of this. Your Instructor will take all reasonable precautions to ensure your safety while you are learning to drive, however you should also do your best to prevent injury or accident to yourself or others. Do as you are told by your Instructor. If unsure of anything seek clarification before proceeding.

General Information

Your driving Instructor is bound by a code of professional conduct, which ensures that instructions will be polite, professional & ethical at all times.


The Driving Standards Agency (DSA), part of the Department for the Environment, Transport & Regions, is the agency that examines licences & controls the standards of all driving Instructors in the UK. Your Instructor is registered with the DSA & is approved by them to display the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) badge on his/ her car. In addition, your Instructor has been trained in the correct way to deliver lessons to ensure you learn more in each lesson.


Your Instructor gives you tuition in their vehicle, which is properly insured for this purpose & for the use of driving tests. The car is fitted with dual controls, is correctly maintained, & kept clean & tidy at all times.

Your Legal Requirements

At the start of your first lesson your instructor will ask you to sign a form stating you have understood the ‘Terms of Business, General Rules & Information’ Your instructor will direct you to their website: to check their Privacy Policy [GDPR]. They will also check your provisional licence & carry out an eye sight check (ensuring you can read a registration plate old style at a minimum of 20.5 metres, new style number plates from 20 metres). Your attention is also drawn to your responsibilities under the Road Traffic Act concerning the use of alcohol & drugs. Please ensure you present yourself in a fit & proper state!

Progress Report

Your Instructor will ensure all lessons are systematically worked through & your progress is recorded. Feedback at each stage will ensure that you are fully aware of your strengths & weaknesses (areas to work on).


The contract from driving tuition is solely between you & the Instructor who is self-employed. You & your Instructor are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to the timing, location & duration of individual lessons.

You must notify your Instructor of any matters which will affect your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, for example any lack or loss of a provisional licence.

Payment for driving lessons is made directly by you to your Instructor & must be paid before your lesson commences.


If you or your Instructor wish to cancel a lesson a minimum of 12 hours prior notice should be given. All cancellations must be made directly between you & your Instructor.

If you do not give at least 12 hours’ notice of cancellation, your Instructor will be entitled to charge for the lesson(s) concerned.

Price Changes

The cost of pre-paid tuition is based on the lesson price at the time of booking & will last for the duration of number of lessons pre-paid. You will be informed of the price increase after the pre-paid lessons have been used.


Your Instructor is not liable to you for any loss or damage causes where, & to the extent that:

1/ There is no breach of a legal duty owed to you by the relevant person.

2/ Such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of such a breach.

3/ Ant such loss or damage, or increase in the same, results from any breach or omission by you.

4/ Any such loss or damage results from circumstances or matters outside of the reasonable control of the relevant person.

Your Instructor shall not in any event, be liable for losses relating to any business interests you may have including without limitation, loss profits, loss of opportunity or business or business interruption.

Transferability of Lessons

You cannot sell or transfer lessons which have been purchased in your name to any other person.

Theory & Driving Tests

Both theory & driving tests are booked by yourself, & in some cases by your instructor, who will advise you of telephone numbers & a suitable date & time. Driving test bookings take preference over lessons; If your lesson requires to be changed your Instructor will let you know as soon as possible. Your Instructor can reserve a warm up lesson, (duration Variable) for your test. Tests & bookings are carried out by the DSA, thus your Instructor cannot be held responsible for any cancellations or postponements. Your Instructor will help you reclaim any out of pocket expenses.
